Aston Villa Suffer Shock Europa Conference Defeat

Villa Succumb 4-2 to Olympiakos in First Leg

London - Aston Villa's European campaign got off to a disappointing start as they were beaten 4-2 by Olympiakos in the first leg of their Europa Conference League play-off match.

The Villans, who finished 14th in the Premier League last season, took the lead through Ollie Watkins in the 11th minute. However, the visitors hit back with goals from Giorgos Masouras, Andreas Bouchalakis, and Youssef El-Arabi to take a 3-1 lead into half-time.

Villa pulled one back through Douglas Luiz after the break, but El-Arabi's second of the game sealed the win for Olympiakos.

The result leaves Villa with a mountain to climb in the second leg, which will be played at Villa Park on August 25th.
